Folders are how you organize work in Studiograph — one per project, client, or team function. Every entry lives in a folder, and folders nest as deep as you like. Each folder also controls who can see what’s inside it; see Sharing & permissions.

Creating a folder

Anyone in the workspace can create a folder. You automatically become its Admin, and the folder starts private to you until you share it. Where you start decides where the folder goes:
  • New folder (from the + button) creates a top-level folder.
  • New subfolder (from a folder’s menu) creates a folder inside that one — the dialog is titled New subfolder in [folder] so there’s no doubt.
You can also add top-level folders from Settings → Manage folders with the Add Folder button.

Renaming a folder

Open the folder’s menu in the sidebar and choose Rename. The Rename Folder dialog updates the folder’s name everywhere it appears.

Nesting subfolders

Folders can contain subfolders at any depth — the sidebar shows them as an expandable tree. Sharing a folder covers everything nested inside it, so a subfolder is a good way to group work that should travel with its parent’s access.

Moving a folder

Choose Move to… from the folder’s menu. The Move Folder dialog shows a tree of possible destinations. Moving a folder adds its new parent’s access on top of its own — no one loses access. If you move a private folder into a shared one, the people who can see the destination can now see the moved folder too.

Archiving a folder

Archiving is a reversible way to tidy up finished work. A folder Admin can choose Archive from the folder’s menu, or from the folder’s page in Settings → Manage folders. An archived folder disappears from the sidebar and from search results, but nothing inside it is lost — its name stays reserved and your saved view setups are kept. To bring it back, go to Settings → Manage folders, find it in the archived list, and click Restore.

Deleting a folder

Deleting is permanent. The Delete Folder confirmation shows exactly what you’re about to remove — the folder and everything inside it, with a count of entries and subfolders — and warns that it cannot be undone. To delete from Settings, open the folder in Settings → Manage folders and use the Danger zoneDelete permanently action, which asks you to type the folder’s name to confirm.
Deleting a folder removes every entry and subfolder inside it. This cannot be undone — if you might need the work later, archive instead.

Your starter folder

When you join a workspace, you get one folder of your own, named {First name}‘s Folder. It’s an ordinary folder: private until you share it, renameable, and deletable. If you delete it, it’s gone for good — Studiograph won’t recreate it.
